install the drivers first then insert the usb wifi connector. Or take it out and then reinsert it.
If the drivers/software isn't installed then windows doesnt know what to do with the device. But it will only load the drivers when it detects a new usb device, rather then looking for one the is already present but doesnt have drivers loaded for it.

  • Basically dont have it plugged in when you start to install the drivers. Run the driver installer and plug the adapter in when it tells you too, not before.

Hi, I have tried not plugged in and plugged in. When i first tried to install the CD i was getting the error message 5, so i rung nintendo, they told me to turn of firewall, AVG, Ad Aware and internet connection settings. I have managed to turn all this off i think (at this stage the WiFi thingy would blink blue) but then the error 5 message would appear. I have got it to install nearly at the end it asks me to plug it in which i do and i goes for awhile but doesn't blink blue, then i get the message 'Please insert nintendo WiFi USB Connector into your computers USB port. But it has already asked me to do this and then this one gives me the application error.?
any further help appreciated. Nintendo were getting grumpy with me.

Hi, my toshiba satellite laptop has 2 usb ports, 1 on the side where i has a mouse plugged in and 1 on the back i have tried both. I use a router but it is not wireless. I have broadband and windows XP so nintendo said this is all i need. When i was getting the first error messages (i think these were to do with the firewall still switched on the WiFi thingy was flashing) now that firewall, AVG everything is turned off the installation goes abit further but then stops and asks me to plug the WiFi into the USB port, which i had already been asked to do. this ends the installation all together. The WiFi thingy is not flashing anymore. Could my computer already have installed some of the disc and WiFi and it's all clashing now or something. I have looked in my control panel for anything to do with the WiFi and can't find anything. I thought if i deleted anything to do with it then i could start again. Any ideas.
    Thanks

    Try this
    Unplug USB Wifi stick
Go to Control Panel>Add & Remove Programs
Uninstall 'Nintendo WiFi USB Registration tool'
When complete do a full shutdown of the machine.
Turn machine back on and download the latest drivers
    Latest drivers here
    Turn firewall off
Unzip file and run the install
Plug USB in when it tells you to.

Hi , i really appreciate all the help i am getting. I went to control panel/add and remove programs and there is nothing there with nintendo WiFi. at all. I downloaded the latest drivers you have suggested and tried to install the disc and connector but still got the message to insert the nintendo WiFi connector into your computers USB port which i had already been prompted to do. this ends with a application error message.

Try connecting it when you're on the top floor of a multi-storey car park.
If that fails, hurl your DS over the side and squeal in delight when it explodes.
